AGENDA HEADING:

 

Approval of the Environmental Certification and Request for Release of Funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Housing Services Department’s 2008 Capital Fund Program.

 

 

SYNOPSIS:

 

Recommend approval of the environmental certification and request for release of funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Housing Services Department’s 2008 Capital Fund Program. The Housing Services Department is required to submit an environmental review of proposed work as part of the HUD application process for the Capital Fund Program. The Community Development Department performs this environmental review function for Housing Services.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 

At the March 24, 2008 Municipal Housing Governing Board meeting, staff will recommend approval of the five-year and one-year Public Housing Agency Plans to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It is a regulatory requirement of the Capital Fund Program to complete the application process with an environmental review of proposed work. Community Development Department staff conducts the environmental review and completes the subsequent “Request for the Release of Funds” form for submission to HUD. This action directs the Mayor to sign the Environmental Certification and the Request for Release of Funds and directs the Housing Services Director to submit the same to the Kansas City HUD Field Office.
