ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Due to the condition of this structure, it has become
eligible for Federal Highway Bridge Program Funds. The agreement with IDOT specifies that 80% of
the construction costs are eligible for Federal funding up to a maximum of
$1,000,000. The remaining $2,400,000 of
the estimated cost will be the responsibility of the City of
Recent bridge inspections have determined that this structure,
which was originally constructed in 1914 and last rehabilitated in 1961, is
showing signs of deterioration and should be replaced with a new bridge. The structurally deficient bridge will be
replaced with a new structure that will improve the hydraulic characteristics
of the bridge during flood events. The
new structure will also provide improved roadway characteristics and
sidewalks. Because this will be a
complete replacement of the existing structure,
