AGENDA HEADING:
Ordering construction of the following: University Avenue Resurfacing - Des Moines River Bridge to 6th Avenue - Receiving bids, (5-20-08), and Setting date of hearing, (6-9-08). (Construction Estimate - $674,510.60).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend the City Council
proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to receive bids and
hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the method of
financing referenced below. The improvement consists of base repairs,
preparation of the existing roadway for resurfacing, and resurfacing of
FISCAL IMPACT:
Amount: $674,510.60 City Engineer's Estimate
Funding Source: 2008-2009 CIP,
Page Street-34, Rehabilitation and Preservation of Major Roadways, STR222, being: $496,180.60 from G. O. Bonds a$178,330 from
Iowa DOT Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funds for 80% of eligible
construction costs (Maximum $178,330)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
On December 19, 2005, under Roll Call Number 05-2970, the City Council approved an agreement with the
Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) for University Avenue Resurfacing

prepared plans, specifications, form of contract documents, and City Engineer’s
estimate for the construction of the University Avenue Resurfacing -
The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.
