Recommend approval for training requests listed below.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Andrew Hennesy (R-0), Assistant to the Parks & Recreation Director, to St. Louis, MO, from May 11 – 14, 2008 ($1,448.52), to attend the National ADA Symposium.  The annual conference is a comprehensive event covering the Americans with Disabilities Act and related disability laws.

Erin Lovejoy (R-0), Senior Police Officer, to San Diego, CA, from June 16 – 19, 2008, ($2,170), to attend the 2008 National Conference on Sex Offender Registration and Management.  The conference will focus on enhancing the capability of law enforcement, criminal justice, and prosecution to punish, treat, and manage sex offenders while improving the ability of social services and community support networks for victims and victims’ families.

The amount budgeted for travel in Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 is $502,726.  The amount expended for travel in FY 2008 as of April 29, 2008 is $275,210.

Action:   The City Council approved a revision to the policy for travel authorization requests.  Such revision requires trips that exceed three days and $1,250 be approved by the Council.  The number in parentheses indicates the total number of trips previously authorized for that individual for the current budget year.
