Upgrades are important to keep the technology current and operating as
efficiently as possible. The current
installation is using file servers that are in their fifth year of
service. Likewise the software is operating
on an older database product Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The City Council approved the software
upgrade November 5, 2007. This hardware
request is needed to support the software upgrade.
The Procurement Administrator of the Finance Department has determined Municipal
Code Section 2-726 ( f ) provides for the purchase of goods and/or services
from contracts established by the State of Iowa Department of General Services,
the Iowa Department of Transportation, or the Iowa Communications Network
