AGENDA HEADING:
Ordering construction of the following: 2008 HMA Pavement Scarification & Resurfacing - receiving bids, (7-1-08), and setting date of hearing, (7-14-08). (Construction Estimate - $798,715).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend the City Council proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the method of financing referenced below. This project provides for timely maintenance of residential and arterial streets utilizing surface scarification and hot mix asphalt overlay to improve the surface condition and extend the useful service life of the streets.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the 2008 HMA Pavement Scarification & Resurfacing, 06-2008-015. The improvement includes:
1. Scarification of two (2) inch average depth
of asphalt street surfaces with specified milling machine and equipment in a

2. Furnish
all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct a two (2) inch

The estimated construction cost is $798,715. The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.
