AGENDA HEADING:
Approving an Amendment to the agreement with Life and Fire
Safety (LAFS).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval of the transfer of the Life and Fire Safety (LAFS)
vehicles from the City of
FISCAL IMPACT: NONE
Amount: $10,500 value of vehicles to be transferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Life and Fire Safety
(LAFS) is a 501(c)(3) organization that does public fire safety and other
emergency related education, often in collaboration with the Des Moines Fire
Department. The vehicles that LAFS have used exclusively are a 2001 Ford van
(City inventory number 3160) with an estimated current value of nine thousand
dollars ($9,000.00) having approximately thirty thousand miles and an enclosed
trailer with an estimate current value of fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00);
the total value of both vehicles thus being ten thousand-five hundred dollars
($10,500.00). These vehicles came into City ownership as the result of grant award
from
LAFS has agreed to
accept title to the vehicles. Ownership of the vehicles will revert back to the
city in the event of termination of LAFS or cessation for over six (6) months
of the Life and Safety Program by LAFS. No city logos may be used on the vehicles
during the period that LAFS assumes ownership.
