AGENDA HEADING:
Ordering construction of the following: 2008 Expanded Street Resurfacing Program - Contract 2 - Receiving bids, (7-15-08), and Setting date of hearing, (7-28-08). (Construction Estimate - $1,517,858).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend the City Council proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the method of financing referenced below. This project provides for partial and full depth patching, surface milling, and hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay of arterial and residential streets citywide. The project addresses citizen concerns regarding the condition of city streets by preserving deteriorating infrastructure.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the 2008 Expanded Street Resurfacing Program - Contract 2, 06-2008-018. The improvement includes scarification of existing asphalt streets, furnish and place hot mix asphalt, and furnish and place pavement markings, and other incidental items; in accordance with the contract documents, including Plans File Nos. 490-150/170, at the following locations within the City of Des Moines, Iowa:

The estimated construction cost is $1,517,858. The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.
