Recommend approval for training requests listed below.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Rudolph Simms (R-0) Human Rights Director, to Washington, D.C., from July 20 – 26, 2008, ($2,065.00), to attend the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) National Fair Housing Training Academy. This is the second of a five week training session.

Dana Wingert (NR-0) Police Captain, to Las Vegas, NV, from July 13 – 17, 2008, ($1,300.00), to attend the National Institute of Crime Prevention’s (NICP) Racially Biased Policing program.  This program promotes the facilitation of fair and impartial policing.

The amount budgeted for travel in Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 is $502,726.  The amount expended for travel in FY 2008 as of June 17, 2008 is $347,966.

Action:   The City Council approved a revision to the policy for travel authorization requests.  Such revision requires trips that exceed three days and $1,250 be approved by the Council.  The number in parentheses indicates the total number of trips previously authorized for that individual for the current budget year.
