AGENDA HEADING:

Communication from the City Manager regarding an offer to purchase real estate in the Guthrie Avenue Business Park.

SYNOPSIS:

This roll call provides for the following actions:

· Receive/ file correspondence from William Lillis (Connolly O’Malley Lillis Hansen Olson LP 317 6^th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50309) on behalf of the owners of Central Wire and Iron (Louis and Benjamin Zenti, 401 SE 4^th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309) on an offer to purchase 2.1 acres of land in the Guthrie Avenue Business Park.

· Direct the City Manager to proceed with negotiations toward a final agreement for further consideration by the City Council

FISCAL IMPACT:

The sales price of the property will be determined in conformance with state law that requires fair market value be charged that takes into account the terms and conditions that may be imposed as conditions of sale.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Benjamin and Louis Zenti are the owners of Central Wire and Iron, a business specializing in the manufacture of woven steel fencing. This business is located at 401 SE 4^th Street and is in the process of relocation. The Zentis are considering purchase of property owned by the City in the Guthrie Avenue Business Park.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION(S): NONE

ANTICIPATED ACTIONS AND FUTURE COMMITMENTS:

A final purchase agreement and supporting documents will be presented to Council for final approval.
