ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The City of Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency received funding last year from HUD for a part-time program coordinator to administer a Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program for Public Housing residents.

The program coordinator provides individual case management to assist clients in achieving goals to become self-sufficient.  FSS Coordinators provide training, education, and job development skills to enrolled clients.

As a requirement for submitting a grant application for funding this year, housing agencies must have a Fair Housing Addendum for their Family Self-Sufficiency Program included in their Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy for the Public Housing Program.

The amendment adds language to the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy that references the Fair Housing Addendum.  The Fair Housing Addendum outlines steps the housing agency will take to further fair housing in the Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program.
