SYNOPSIS:
Request formal Council recognition
of the Martin-Hickman Neighborhood Association according to the Neighborhood
Recognition Policy.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Des Moines City Council approved the City of
In order to implement this
policy, Planning Staff developed a strategy that consisted of providing
information about the policy and requested information from the neighborhood
organizations. Organizations who wish to
become recognized must submit the following information: 1) official name of organization, 2) detailed
neighborhood boundaries, 3) a list of the organization’s representatives with
their address and telephone numbers, 4) the location and time of their
membership meetings, and 5) a copy of the organization’s bylaws.
The Martin-Hickman Neighborhood
Association has completed an application for recognition. Their neighborhood
boundaries are
30th Street on the west, MLK Jr. Parkway on the east, Bennett Avenue
on the north (both sides of the street), and Hickman Road on the south.
At their meeting on March 4, 2009 the Neighborhood Revitalization Board
recommended this application for approval.
In accordance with the Policy, each recognized neighborhood organization
would receive a proclamation from the Mayor and the City Council.
