AGENDA HEADING:

Approving Professional Services Agreement with Shuck-Britson, Inc., (Tim Monson, President, 2409 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50312), for evaluation, design, and construction phase services for the S.W. 7^th Street Bridge over the Raccoon River Rehabilitation, not to exceed $196,733.

SYNOPSIS:

Recommend approval of the Professional Services Agreement with Shuck-Britson, Inc., for hourly rates not to exceed $196,733, to provide evaluation, design, and construction phase services for the S.W. 7^th Street Bridge over the Raccoon River Rehabilitation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The rehabilitation of the S.W. 7^th Street Bridge over the Raccoon River was identified as a high priority project in the 2007 City-Wide Bridge and Structure Evaluation. On March 9, 2009, by Roll Call No. 09‑366, Council approved and authorized the execution of an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to provide up to a maximum of $1,000,000 in Federal Highway Bridge Program Funds for construction costs. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for these professional services was advertised in the newspaper and posted on the City’s web site. Two proposals were received in response to the RFP. A selection committee composed of representatives from the Public Works, Traffic & Transportation, and Engineering Departments rated the proposals. Shuck-Britson, Inc. was the unanimous selection of the committee based on their qualifications, defined approach to this project, and established performance with the City.

Staff has negotiated a Professional Services Agreement with Shuck-Britson, Inc., for hourly rates not to exceed $196,733, to provide evaluation, design, and construction phase services.
