AGENDA
HEADING:
Ordering
construction of the following: 2009
Sidewalk Replacement Program - Receiving bids, (5-19-09), and Setting date of
hearing, (6-8-09). (Construction
Estimate - $349,905).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend
the City Council proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to
receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the
method of financing referenced below. This project provides for a citywide
program to replace deteriorated City sidewalks, sidewalks damaged by City
activities or by City trees in the parking area and sidewalks for residents
that qualify for special assessment subsidy.

ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
The
Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract
documents and the City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the 2009
Sidewalk Replacement Program, 09-2009-003.
The improvement includes reconstruction of Class A and Class B Portland
cement concrete sidewalks four inches thick, (six inches thick at driveways),
together with all appurtenances; in accordance with the contract documents at
various locations Citywide. Sidewalk will be replaced at locations inspected by
the Public Works Department. Handicapped
accessible ramps will also be constructed in the vicinity where sidewalks will
be replaced.
The
estimated construction cost is $349,905.
The proposed plans, specifications and form of contract documents are
available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.

Anticipated
actions include public hearing, receive and file bids, designate lowest bidder
