ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The City of Des Moines Fire Department is requesting an Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) funding to assist in the acquisition and installation for sprinkler systems and full monitoring equipment at 4 of the 10 stations, as well as power generators with automatic transfer switches at all 10 of our stations.  Acquisition of the generators and alarming systems is consistent with emphasized grant items, as well as Des Moines Fire Department hazard mitigation projects.  Additionally, these acquisitions replace or add absent, outdated, or underpowered systems utilized by personnel currently.  This grant opportunity is outside of the stimulus funding indicated for the Fire Service.  Grant guidance for the stimulus funds are expected to be released later this summer.
