AGENDA
HEADING:
Ordering
construction of the following: 2009 Hot
Mixed Asphalt (HMA) Pavement Scarification & Resurfacing - Receiving bids,
(6-9-09), and Setting date of hearing, (6-22-09). (Construction Estimate -
$414,075).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend
the City Council proceed with construction of this improvement and set dates to
receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the
method of financing referenced below. This
project provides for timely maintenance of residential and arterial streets
utilizing surface scarification and hot mix asphalt overlay to improve the surface
condition and extend the useful service life of the streets.

INFORMATION:
The
Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract
documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the 2009 HMA
Pavement Scarification & Resurfacing, 06-2009-015. The improvement includes scarification of two
(2) inch average depth of asphalt street surfaces with specified milling
machine and equipment in a cooperative effort with the City of

The
improvement also includes furnishing all labor, materials and equipment
necessary to construct a two (2) inch average thickness pavement scarification
and HMA surfacing on existing asphaltic street surface; together with other
incidental and related work; all in accordance with the contract documents at
the following locations within the City of

proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are available
for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.
