AGENDA
HEADING:
Approval
of Amendment #4 to the FY2006 Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program
(LETPP) Grant.
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend
approval of Amendment No. 4 to the original grant agreement which changes the
performance period of the FY2006-LEIN5-05 Grant. The approved performance period was from
August 31, 2006 through May 31, 2009 and now has a new end date of August 31,
2009. There are no other changes to the
grant other than the performance period end date.

The original grant award from the State of Iowa Homeland Security and
Emergency Management Division was $366,305.50.
Funding
Source: Grant proceeds are deposited into SP751, POL980520,
LETPP Grant (Page 284, Adopted Budget Fiscal Year Ending 2009).
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
The
grant award is administered by the City of Des Moines for the 20-county area
referred to as Law Enforcement Intelligence Network (LEIN) Region 5. The Des Moines Police Department was selected
as one of six lead agencies throughout the State of
As of April
30, 2009, there was $42,944.05 unexpended in the grant. Pending purchase orders include four (4)
RACOM radios totaling $24,637. The
balance of the funding will be directed towards basic operating expenses
including vehicle fuel charges, monthly cell phone expenses and office
supplies.
