AGENDA HEADING:
Approving Change Order No. 1 with Elder
Corporation for additional work on the Cownie Soccer Fields Improvements –
Phase 3 for a total not to exceed $71,720.
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend approval of Change Order No. 1 in an amount not to exceed $71,720
with Elder Corporation, Jared R. Elder II, President, 5088 East University
Avenue, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, 50327, for additional work on the Cownie Soccer
Fields Improvements – Phase 3.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Amount: $71,720
Funding Source: 2009-10 CIP, Page Park
Improvements-25, Soccer Complex, PKS159, G.O. Bonds
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The installation of 2”
drain tiles will upgrade the drainage of the remaining four fields to be
reconstructed as part of this three-phase, twelve field project. Since the low bid for the last phase was less
than the estimate, there is funding available for this additional work. These tiles will supplement and improve the
existing drainage system.
The eight fields that are
now complete have 2” drain tiles, and are draining the fields very well after heavy
rains. There has been positive feedback
from the players and coaches using the fields, including Drake University,
Grandview University, and visiting teams.
Therefore, these proposed upgrades to the drainage system are a good
investment in the facilities.
