SYNOPSIS:

Recommend approval of Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Veenstra and Kimm, Inc, (H.R. Veenstra Jr., P.E., President), 3000 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA, for a total cost not to exceed $72,853.00, based on hourly rates, to provide additional design and construction phase services for the Court Avenue/Water Street Sewer Separation Project.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Amount:  $72,853.00

Funding Source:  2009-2010 CIP – Page Storm Water Improvements-6, Court Ave/Water Street Sewer Separation, STE081

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Supplemental Agreement No. 1 includes the preliminary design analysis of additional locations for the pump station, and the subcontracted services of Substance Architecture related to the architectural design and related construction administration of the pump station.  City staff requested that the consultant evaluate a possible pump station location in addition to the location addressed by the original scope of services.  This analysis confirmed that the proposed location near Court Avenue and Water Street is preferred.  Because of the proposed pump station location, additional architectural design, and construction administration services are required to provide consistency with the Des Moines Riverwalk project.  These proposed additional architectural services to be incorporated into the design have been presented to the Urban Design Review Board and have been found consistent with the Riverwalk.
