AGENDA
HEADING:
Ordering
construction of the following: S.W. 30th
Street Trail Connection at Carney Park - Receiving bids, (2-9-10), and Setting
date of hearing, (2-22-10). (Construction Estimate - $40,930).
SYNOPSIS:
Recommend
the City Council proceed with construction of the improvement and set dates to
receive bids and hold a public hearing, as required by Iowa Code, utilizing the
method of financing referenced below. This
project provides for the construction of five-foot wide trail connection from
the entrance of Carney Park north along the top of the exiting levee
approximately 1,045 feet to the American Discovery Trail north of Bell Avenue.

ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
The
Engineering Department has prepared plans, specifications, form of contract
documents, and City Engineer’s estimate for the construction of the S.W. 30th
Street Trail Connection at Carney Park, 11-2009-017. The improvement includes construction of a 5’
wide PCC sidewalk, grading, seeding and other incidental items; in accordance
with the contract documents, including Plan File Nos. 515-001/018, and located
on the west side of S.W. 30th Street along the top of the existing levee from
the entrance to the Kriegh G. Carney Park, north approximately 1045 feet to the
existing HMA trail north of Bell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
The
estimated construction cost is $40,930.
The proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract documents are
available for public inspection in the City Engineer's Office.

Anticipated
actions include public hearing, receive and file bids, designate lowest bidder,
