During discussion of the recommended FY2011 Operating Budget at the February 22, 2010 City Council meeting, the City Manager was directed to propose a policy to govern the manner in which the City’s membership in various organizations would be considered and approved by the City Council for dues and membership fees that were to be charged to the General Fund - Mayor and Council departmental budget.  The City Manager has proposed such a policy as follows:

Dues and/or memberships in any organization whether for the City, the Mayor, or an individual Council Member that will appropriately be charged to the Mayor and Council budget, will be subject to review and approval by the City Council.  During the annual budget process, staff will prepare a detailed listing of the specific dues and memberships that are proposed to be included in the budget, along with the estimated cost of each.  Staff will seek Mayor and Council Member feedback on the membership list and prepare a list of dues and memberships to present to the City Council for formal approval, prior to the adoption of the annual operating budget.
