Ward 4 City Council Member Brian Meyer

Brian Meyer was elected to the Des Moines City Council on January 9, 2007 to serve the balance of a four-year term. He was re-elected to a full four-year term in January 2008.

He graduated from the Infantry basic training course at Ft. Benning Georgia in 1992 and returned to Iowa to serve in the 1-133^rd Infantry out of Waterloo. In 1996, he graduated from the Iowa Military Academy as a commissioned officer and in 1997 graduated from Infantry Officer Basic Course (IOBC) at Ft. Benning Georgia. In 1997, while attending the Iowa Military Academy, Brian also graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in political science. In 2002, he graduated from Drake Law School.

Brian is currently the Legal Counsel to the Majority Leader of the Iowa House of Representatives. He previously worked as an Assistant Attorney General from 2003-2006.

Brian and his wife, Ann, have two children and reside in SE Des Moines near Easter Lake.
