AN ORDINANCE to amend the Municipal Code of Des Moines, 1991, adopted by Ordinance No. 11,651, passed April 15,
1991, and amended by Ordinance No. 12,078, passed January 3, 1994, and amended by Ordinance No. 13,261, passed
November 6, 1995, and amended by Ordinance No. 13,353, passed June 24, 1996, by repealing subsection (c) of Section
2-1 thereof and enacting a new subsection (c) of Section 2-1, regarding the description of the City boundaries
in the vicinity of Meredith Drive and Merle Hay Road.
Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Des Moines,
Iowa:
Section 1. That the Municipal Code of Des Moines, 1991, adopted by Ordinance No. 11,651, passed April 15, 1991,
and amended by Ordinance No. 12,078, passed January 3, 1994, and amended by Ordinance No. 13,261, passed November
6, 1995, and amended by Ordinance No. 13,353, passed June 24, 1996, be and is hereby amended by repealing subsection
(c) of Section 2-1 thereof and enacting a new subsection (c) of Section 2-1, regarding the description of the City
boundaries in the vicinity of Meredith Drive and Merle Hay Road, as follows:
(c) Section "C". Continuing on from Section "B"; thence North along the North and South center line of the Southeast 1/4 of said Section 24, to the East and West center line of said Section 24; thence East along the East and West center line of said Section 24, to the Southwest corner of the Northwest 1/4 of Section 19, Township 79 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M.; thence North along the West line of said Section 19, to the Northwest corner of said Section 19, and being the Southwest corner of Section 18, Township 79 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M.; thence continuing North along the West line of said Section 18, a distance of 1813.9 feet being 28.0 feet North of the westerly extention of the South line of Lot 3, Piekenbrock, an Official Plat, thence North 8953.5' East, 112.02 feet; thence South 0001' West, 28.0 feet; thence South 007.5' West, 24.33 feet to the North line of Lot 4 of said Piekenbrock; thence East, 614.2 feet along the North line of said Lot 4 to the Northeast corner of said Lot 4; thence South along the East lot lines of Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of said "Piekenbrock" to the Southeast corner of said Lot 11; thence West to the Northeast corner of Lot 12, of said "Piekenbrock"; thence South along the East line of Lots 12 and 13 of said "Piekenbrock," to the North right-of-way line of Meredith Drive, being 40.0 feet North of the South line of said Section 18; thence East along the North right-of-way line of Meredith Drive to the West line of Lot 15, "Piekenbrock", an Official Plat; thence North along the West line of said Lot 15 to a point 308.5 feet South of the North line of said Lot 15; thence East 50.0 feet; thence North 308.5 feet to the North line of said Lot 15; thence East along the North line of Lot 15, 16 and 17 of said "Piekenbrock", 340.0 feet to the East line of said Lot 17; thence South along the East line of said Lot 17 to the North right-of-way line of Meredith Drive; thence East along the North right-of-way line of Meredith Drive to the East right-of-way line of Northwest 53rd Court, also being the West line of Lot 155, of said "Piekenbrock"; thence South 40.0 feet to the North line of said Section 19; thence East 90.40 feet; thence South 50.0 feet to the South right-of-way line of Meredith Drive, also being the Southwest corner of Lot B, Northwoods Townhomes, an Official Plat; thence East along the South line of said Lot B to the Southeast corner of said Lot B; thence North 50.0 feet to the North line of said Section 19, being 376.0 feet West of the North 1/4 corner of said Section 19; thence East 876.2 feet along the North line of said Section 19; thence North to the Southwest corner of Lot 68, "Lovington," an Official Plat; thence continuing North along the West line of Lots 68 and 80 of said "Lovington," a distance of 470.0 feet; thence East along a line that is parallel with the North line of said Lot 80 to the East line of said Lot 80, a distance of 120.0 feet; thence North along the West line of said Lot 80 to the Northeast corner of said Lot 80, a distance of 210.0 feet, also being the South right-of-way line of Northwest 42nd Avenue and being the Northwest corner of Lot 8, Meredith Addition, an Official Plat; thence East along the South right-of-way line of Northwest 42nd Avenue, 240.0 feet to the Northeast corner of Outlot Y, of said Meredith Addition and the Northwest corner of Lot 77 of said Lovington; thence South along the West line of Lots 77 and 71 of said Lovington to the Southwest corner of said Lot 71; thence continuing South 40.0 feet to the North line of said Section 19, also being the center line of Meredith Drive; thence East along the center line of Meredith Drive and a 572.96 foot radius curve concave northwesterly 400.0 feet with a central angle of 40 00' 00", a chord distance of 392.93 feet; thence northeasterly along said center line and tangent of the last described curve 65.55 feet; thence continuing northeasterly along said center line and a 572.96 foot radius curve concave southeasterly 399.67 feet, with a central angle of 39 58' 00", a chord distance of 391.61 feet to a point 310.3 feet North of the South line of said Section 18; thence East along said center line of Meredith Drive, 832.0 feet to the East line of said Section 18 and 309.81 feet North of the Southeast corner of said Section 18 and being a point on the center line of Beaver Avenue; thence South along the East line of said Section 18, a distance of 309.81 feet to the Southeast corner of said Section 18, also being the Northwest corner of Section 20, Township 79 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M.; thus ending Section "C".
Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
