ORDINANCE NO. 14,183

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, by amending Section 30-161 of Article VI, Painting House Numbers on Curbing, and Sections 30-248 and 30-250 of Article VIII, Secondhand Goods of Chapter 30, Businesses, to set forth miscellaneous fees in a schedule of fees adopted by the city council by resolution.

Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa:

Section 1. That the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, is hereby amended by amending Section 30-161 of Article VI, Painting House Numbers on Curbing, and Sections 30-248 and 30-250 of Article VIII, Secondhand Goods of Chapter 30, Businesses, to set forth miscellaneous fees in a schedule of fees adopted by the city council by resolution, as follows:

 

Sec. 30-161. License fees.

(a) An applicant for a house number painting license shall submit a fee to the city clerk at the time of filing the application.

(b) If the application is denied or if the application is withdrawn before final action is taken by the city clerk, a portion of the application fee shall be retained by the city clerk for the cost of administration.

(c) The license fee and its nonrefundable portion for a housing number painting license shall be in the amounts set in the schedule of fees adopted by the city council by resolution.

Sec. 30-248. License fee.

(a) An applicant for a salvage dealer license shall submit a fee to the city clerk at the time of filing the application.

(b) An applicant who files for renewal less than thirty (30) days prior to the date of license expiration shall pay a late fee.

(c) If the application is denied or if the application is withdrawn before final action is taken by the city clerk, a portion of the application fee shall be retained by the city clerk for the cost of administration.

(d) The license fee and its nonrefundable portion for a salvage dealer license shall be in the amounts set in the schedule of fees adopted by the city council by resolution.

 

Sec. 30-250. Application for license.

Application for a salvage dealer's license under this division shall be made in writing by regular mail to the city clerk at least 30 days prior to the date of issuance of such license. Upon such application the city clerk shall request the building and fire departments to inspect the premises for which the applicant seeks a license and, if the premises comply with applicable statutes and ordinances, shall send a certificate of compliance to the city clerk before the date for the issuance of the license.

 

Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
