ORDINANCE NO. 14,316

 

 

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, by adding and enacting a new Section 86-30.2 to Chapter 86, Police, relating to junking certificate fees. 

 

Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa:

    

     Section 1.  That the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, is hereby amended by adding and enacting a new Section 86-30.2, relating to junking certificate fees, as follows: 

 

Sec. 86-30.2.  Junking certificate fee.

 

     (a)  Authority for fee.  The chief of police or his or her designee is hereby authorized to charge and collect an administrative fee for processing applications for authority to obtain junking certificates on motor vehicles pursuant to Iowa Code section 321.90(2).  The fee shall be in the amount set in the schedule of fees adopted by the city council by resolution. 

     (b)  Exemption.  Any person that has a contract with the city for impounding, towing or storage of motor vehicles shall be exempt from the fee authorized at subsection 86-30.2(a) on vehicles impounded, towed, or stored as a result of any violation of the city code. 

 

 

Sec. 2.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
