ORDINANCE NO. 14,483       

 

 

 

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, and amended by Ordinance No. 14,140, passed June 3, 2002, by amending Section 22-46 thereof, relating to composition of the Des Moines International Airport Board. 

 

Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa:

    

     Section 1.  That the Municipal Code of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, 2000, adopted by Ordinance No. 13,827, passed June 5, 2000, and amended by Ordinance No. 14,104, passed June 3, 2002, is hereby amended by amending Section 22-46 relating to the composition of the Des Moines International Airport Board, as follows: 

 

Sec. 22-46. Established; composition; appointments.

 

(a)  There is established in and for the city the Des Moines International Airport Board, referred to in this article as the "board," created under I.C. ch. 392, for the purpose of governing the operation of the airport pursuant to the terms of this article and this Code.

(b)  The board shall consist of seven members, each having the right to vote, with each councilperson appointing one member of the board. The term of each member shall be for four years. Any member may be removed by a majority vote of the city council for good cause shown as determined by the city council. The terms of board members shall expire on and as of June 30 of the year in which their terms expire.  Notwithstanding section 2-1059 regarding term limits, members of the board  may be reappointed for a third or subsequent consecutive term.  Notwithstanding section 2-1049, a member of the airport board who has been appointed to the airport board three or more times and is serving as chairperson of the airport board may continue to serve to the end of the member’s current term even if the member fails to maintain his or her

 

 

     residence in the city during the member’s entire term in office, provided that the member serves no more than two years after moving his or her residence outside of the city. 

 

 

Sec. 2.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
