The Human Rights Commission addresses illegal discrimination that occurs in the City of Des Moines in the areas of employment, housing, municipal practices and public accommodations.

As an impartial investigative agency, the commission determines through investigation, if a person was treated unfairly in violation of the City Code. This includes intake, filing, mediation, investigation, conciliation, and litigation.
