• Tour DM Parks 2018

    Tour DM Parks is back again as a celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month. We have designated 31 locations throughout the park system. Participants who visit all 31 spots and share a photo with the hashtag #tourdmparks2018 can compete to win the grand prize of $1,000 CASH courtesy of our sponsor, the Friends of the Des Moines Parks.

  • Register for Youth Flag Football

    This is an eight week league with practices starting in early August. Age groups range from 1st to 7th grade. Cost is $475 per team or $50 individual registration.

  • Yoga in the Park

    Yoga in the Park sponsored by UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is back this summer at Gray’s Lake Park. Join us every Saturday from 9 – 10 a.m. Classes start June 2 and run through September 29.   • Free Flicks

    Free Flicks is coming to a park near you sponsored by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines. Movies begin after sunset and are shown on our 25-foot inflatable screen. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and movie snacks as no concessions are available. See below for the full schedule of movies.

  • Construction at MacRae Park

    As a part of the EMC Overlook project, the upper portion of the MacRae Park road will be closed and reconstructed. The road will be closed at the north intersection by the pond and the south intersection by the newly renovated Walker Shelter. The upper section of the road will be closed through Spring 2019.

  • Become an UPCYCLE Steward

    Volunteers are needed to help UPCYCLE invasive plants as food or fun for animals at Blank Park Zoo. The first 30 participants (21 and up) will get a free beer from Confluence Brewing Company. Participate in all three volunteer events and be entered into a drawing for a family four pack entrance to the zoo along with a “feed bundle” for the animals. No registration is necessary.
