Gray's Lake Access
Preparations for this year's Des Moines Triathlon (Sept.3-4) will affect access to Gray's Lake Park starting August 30. The park, trail and concession stand will remain open. No boat rentals will be allowed during the events. Click the link below to view the schedule of areas impacted.
Pee Wee Indoor Soccer
Indoor Pee Wee Soccer allows children ages 3-6 the chance to play in a team sport, while learning the basics of soccer in a fun atmosphere! Registration is open now through September 4.
Youth Flag Footballl Registration Opens!
Register your child for our youth flag football league! Open to children in grades 1-7. The season begins September 20 and will last 8 weeks.
Yoga in the Park
Join us at the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park every Saturday through September 3 from 9-10 for free yoga!
Instructor List & Schedule
Help us tag up to 200 Monarch butterflies at various parks around the metro! Participants will be able to learn about the Monarchs migration pattern, catch, tag and release them to continue their journey south.
Des Moines Parks and Recreation department manages 60 miles of paved multi-use and 18 miles of nature trails.
Our department is responsible for the management of 76 parks, over 4,000 acres of parkland, 78 miles of trails, seven cemeteries and numerous municipal facilities.
